Research provides overwhelming  evidence that people with higher strengths use experience many benefits; increased happiness, higher levels of energy and vitality, less stress, better goal achievement and faster development, to name just a few.

In the organisational context the benefits are striking. A study that examined “Flourishing in New Zealand workers” found that high strengths use increases the odds of flourishing at work 18 times (Hone et al., 2015)! Other studies demonstrated that a strengths based approach increases performance by 36.4% and that people that use their strengths are 6 times more engaged at work.

But what exactly is a strength?

Despite the overwhelming benefits, only one in three people can say what their strengths are and of these, one in three people, the vast majority miss what strengths are really about and as such are unable to tap into the many benefits of strengths based living!

Most people state that a strengths is something that your are good at. Well, only half a point for that answer. Another crucially important dimension is what makes the world go around: ENERGY! So a strengths is something that you are good at and get a load of energy from when using the strength. It generates what we call a state of flow. Where time stops and you become fully emerged in the moment and feel completely energised during and after.
